I post this in a comment thread on a friend's Facebook page everyday; one of a group of seven. He averages our scores. It's about the only thing I do regularly on that platform anymore.
Maybe I can find a group that would do the same, here...

How can we connect
This is my first post on my brand-spanking new Friendica server. Okay, the server isn't actually new. It's a very old, repurposed machine. But, the software installation is new, and so I am beginning!
While I'm not quite ready to go full throttle on the shift, I am increasingly of the opinion that we need to be wresting control of our social media infrastructure from the hands of the oligarchs who have built "indispensable" platforms and are now using them to control our interactions and manipulate the public discourse. This Friendica instance, alongside its sister Mastodon instance, is my first foray into controlling my own virtualized social relationships. I know it will take a long time to rebuild the sense of connections and community I had on Facebook and Twitter, but in the long run it will be worth it.
